The East Gate of Yellowstone
The Wilhelm Family — Ten Days at Yellowstone's East Gate. A day-by-day record of the country we covered — kept for the family, in full resolution.
An early start (4 am departure from the house) the TSA line was very long and Corinne got to do it twice! Arrival day into Billings, MT and the drive down to Rock Creek Resort. Corinne was taken by the Land landscapes on the way down to red Lodge, Montana. The place we are staying is very nice and has a wonderful view of a creek off of our balcony. Jake made it into town at around 7:30 PM. He was scheduled to meet Jenson and Corinne in Red Lodge while Scott took the opportunity to get cardioverted. What a great group at the hospital. He was fixed and out in record time!
We started with a fantastic breakfast at Rock Creek Resort.
The Pennsylvania group will all fly in somewhere today and make their way to Cody. The Wilhelm and Jacob are leaving red Lodge and will travel to Cody via the Beartooth Highway and the chief Joseph scenic byway.
Still another hot day, but not quite like yesterday. We had breakfast at granny’s and went to the Center of the West museum today.
We spent this beautiful day in Yellowstone!
We drove around a vast BLM reserve searching for wild mustangs, and finally found a family (about 47!) near Whistle Creek in Powell, WY. In the evening we went to the Cody Nite Rodeo — Yeehaw!!!!🤠
We went back to Yellowstone for another day of sites (Old Faithful, Grand Prismatic, etc.) and searching for animals!
